'My style is an attempt to make painting resonate like music but not reflect any particular place and time,' points out the artist, 'So that each tiny detail and the entire artwork resonate, alter and interchange. I do not know maybe it's arguable or idealized, but I feel like my paintings are of another dimension'.
"Revelation" 2010 year, oil on canvas, 61 x 81 cm.
"An artist who paints the light itself" - so was mentioned Victor Vasiukevich in the press. He started his career with more figurative images, with a bias in surrealism, phantasmagoria, collage. The new style he works in is hard to name just an abstraction - more accurately it would be characterised as esoteric painting. The art of
Victor Vasiukevich is not based on any geometric constructions, and, generally, does not accept any forms of completion. His abstractions are unlimited stretches of imagination, embodied by a hand of a professional. The artist himself calls his style "materialized music" and considers it as a revelation given to him from above.
"Matrix", oil on canvas, 70 x 80 sm, 2009 year
The style of Victor Vasiukevich can hardly be described as abstract art. It would be more precise to call it 'energy', 'cosmic' or 'esoteric' painting. The artist doesn't accept any perfection of forms. His canvases are an infinite stretch of imagination. Victor Vasiukevich refers to his own artistic manner as 'materialized music'. In his recent abstract works Victor tries to reflect the harmony of outer world he managed to perceive, in contrast to near-realistic practices which acknowledge earthly struggle of opposites. Нis style is close to the ideas of Zen philosophy and New Age movement and refers to works by well-known Indian master Sri Chinmoy. At the same time he upholds the tradition of abstract painting started by Vasily Kandinsky. Also the artist has a lot in common with Jackson Pollock and other representatives of abstract expressionism.
